Although a number of studies have appeared in the past few decades, Seraphim Newman-Norton's The Time of Silence is unique in providing a detailed and sympathetic account of the events following the death of its last apostle, Francis Valentine Woodhouse, in 1901 through to the death of the last priest in 1971. Originally published in a very limited edition in 1974, this fourth edition is extensively revised and provided with historic illustrations.
